Accommodation & transport
Plan your group tour in confidence with quality places to stay and modes of transport that tick all the right boxes for your safety and comfort.
At Travelbound we know that good standards of accommodation and transport are vital to making your trip successful and enjoyable. Whether you’re taking a group by coach to a European youth hostel, flying students to New York for a hotel stay, or even taking a camel safari in the Moroccan desert and staying in a Bedouin tent, you can be sure we’ll get you there and back safely, comfortably and efficiently.
Our business rests on our reputation, and we take seriously our legal and moral obligation to look after the health and safety of everyone on our tours, so we take a systematic approach to its management. Auditing processes are used for all our accommodation and transport services. As a full member of the School Travel Forum (STF) and an accredited Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge holder, Travelbound operates to the highest standards of care and responsibility.
We work with accommodation providers to offer a range of options, from high-quality business hotels and 2* hotel accommodation to homestays, safari-type tents and youth hostels, depending on your group's requirements. As a full member of the STF, Travelbound ensures all accommodation options that we use or feature are subject to a standard audit prior to first use and thereafter at a maximum of three-year intervals.
All accommodation suppliers we work with must provide as a minimum:
a valid operating licence
evidence they are in possession of valid indemnity and public liability insurance
confirmation that they comply with all requirements of local and national governing bodies as well as those of licensing authorities
completion of our accommodation safety assessment, which covers fire safety arrangements, the existence of an appropriate food management system and general safety arrangements including swimming pools and security
Travelbound has years of experience arranging group travel by air, coach, rail and ferry. We’ve fine-tuned our offering for maximum customer satisfaction and we know what steps to take to ensure your comfort and safety, whichever way you choose to go.
All transportation suppliers we work with must provide as a minimum:
a valid operating licence
evidence they are in possession of valid indemnity, public liability insurance and transport specific insurances
coach transport suppliers must agree to the standards laid down in our Coach Operator Land Transportation Code of Practice, and must complete our transport safety assessment, which covers the management of driver hours and fatigue, driver recruitment (including DBS checks, where appropriate), vehicle maintenance and emergency procedures
all air, rail and sea transportation provided as part of a tour complies with regulations set down by the appropriate Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Civil Aviation Authority or equivalent regulatory body in the country of operation
Please note that the use of other standards of public transport used by groups or individuals during a tour is outside of our control.
Coach travel offers the convenience and flexibility of door-to-door transport, easier group management and can include the use of the coach throughout your stay, subject to drivers’ hour regulations. Our coaches are audited by our Health and Safety team.
Please note that while all UK-sourced coaches will be provided with seatbelts, it is not a legal requirement in many overseas destinations for coaches and buses to be fitted with safety restraints.
Eurostar and rail travel
The Eurostar is the only high-speed train that directly links the UK to destinations in France and Belgium via the Channel Tunnel. Many groups find it a convenient and speedy alternative to flying or coach travel. Trains depart the UK from London St Pancras, Ebbsfleet or Ashford, with the fastest journey times taking you from London to Paris in 2hrs 15mins, or London to Brussels in 2hrs (and vice versa). Check in time is only 45mins and your group will automatically receive reserved seating, ensuring friendship groups sit together.
We are also able to book cross country rail journeys including overnight trains and cabins.
